All students at Esprit de la Danse have the opportunity to participate in our annual dance recital. All classes (with the exception of the adult tap class, and adult Yoga-Pilates class) prepare a dance to perform. Students work on both the technique of the choreography and aspects of showmanship and performance which not only build self-confidence and self self-esteem for the stage, but actually carry these elements over to other aspects of the student's every day life.
We invite the families and friends of the dancers to support them in this important part of every dancer's training. Tickets are available to the general public and will be sold at the Flint Center Box Office and through TicketMaster.

Esprit de la Danse offers dance classes for different ages and abilities. Unless otherwise stated, all dance classes are taught by Gay Powell and are often assisted by a student who currently takes classes at Esprit.
This combination dance class is designed for young children to learn the basics of ballet and tap and prepare them for further dance training.
Ballet & Pointe
These classes teach classical ballet styles and focus on body alignment, dance vocabulary, and classical positions from which all other styles of dance are derived. At the younger levels rhythm, coordiantion, and the love of dance are emphasised.
These classes are designed to build strength and provide a foundation in preparation to start dancing en pointe, but are also open to those who do not wish to go en pointe. At this level, elements of lyrical dance are often in involved, as well. Learn more about going en pointe.
Advanced Contemporary Ballet
This class fuses ballet fundamentals with lyrical and contemporary dance styles to build technique and expand dance repertoire. This class is open to the more advanced dancer and is by invitiation only.
These high-energy dance classes blend classical jazz technique with hard-hitting movements from hip-hop as well as various other styles of jazz. They also provide strength and flexibility training as well as basic dance technique.
These fun classes teach rhythm and coordination. Students learn not only to keep time to the music but also to work as a team to create a capella beats with their feet. Every tap class covers the basics from shuffles to time steps and builds to more complicated rhythms.
This is a great place to have some fun on your Friday mornings and stomp to the beat! This class is good for beginners and covers all the basics while providing a good work out!
Adult Yoga-Pilates Dance
If you like yoga and pilates, and you also like to dance, you'll love this class. It begins with a gentle aerobic, low impact dance routine (gentle on the joints) which incorporates yoga, martial arts, and dance moves to up-beat music, and then moves on into pilates and yoga poses to improve flexibility, strengthen and tone the core, as well as enjoy some feel-good stretches, all leaving you relaxed and energized.
